Duncanville was once again the national girls’ basketball central the past weekend with the 65th
Annual Sandra Meadows tournament at Duncanville High School and the
Pantherettes came out on top after downing Blackman 64-43 to take keep
the title at home.
Duncanville came into the tournament ranked as the #2 team in the
nation on MapxPreps’ computer ranking of the top 25 teams in the nation.
Also on that list was #4 Liberty Christian Argyle, #5 Blackman from
Murfreesboro, TN, #10 Plano West, and #16 Vista Ridge.
Throw all those basketball powerhouses in with Conway, AR, last
year’s tournament winner, and Fayetteville, AR the Arkansas state
Champions. Include the Georgia state champs of McEachern High School,
Fair Park High School (Shreveport, LA), Harvard-Westlake (Studio City,
CA), and Troy High School (Fullerton, CA) and nine players listed on
ESPN’s top national players and you have the recipe for one of the top
tournaments in the nation.
Duncanville’s run required them to defeat two of the top five
nationally ranked teams in Plano West and then Blackman in the finals.
