Duncanville's varsity cross country teams participated in Region 1 Championships Monday, October 26 in Lubbock. The varsity girls team finished 21st overall. All of the girls exceeded their expectations by running personal records for the year. After finishing in 3rd place at the District meet behind Mansfield and Midlothian, the girls moved Midlothian back and outran them at Regionals, placing in the number two spot for the District 8-6A teams.
Julissa Martinez ran the fastest time for Duncanville finishing with a 19:26. Other top 5 girls for DHS were: Cassie Pineda, Lydia Mancillas, Renicea Berryman and Araceli Martinez
The varsity boys team finished 19th overall and continued to dominate the other two qualifying teams in District 8-6A. Like the girls, the DHS boys ran personal season records. Bryan Gutierrez was the top finisher. He defeated all individuals who ran from our district with a time of 16:07. Other individuals in DHS’s top five were: Livan Aguilar, Nate Donahoe, Esteban Andrade, and Cesar Moreno.
