Administrators at Reed Middle School are catching kids being
good and they’re calling their parents to let them know. Reed's staff implemented
a new program this year to reward students for doing something exceptional or
modeling positive behaviors. Teachers issue a “positive behavior referral”
to the assistant principal who calls the students down to the office to thank
them. The assistant principal also calls parents to let them know their student
is being recognized.
Devionna Byrd cleaned up and organized all of the flags after
practice in gym class without being asked. Malcom Mitchell was courteous and
helpful to other students in class without being told.
Dr. McCoy says so far this year, the school has
had 13 positive behavior referrals and only three for negative behavior.
