Darlene Taylor (Kindergarten Teacher) at Central Elementary nominated by Central Principal Sherri Smith

    • Darlene Taylor is an exceptional kindergarten teacher who goes above and beyond for the success of her students and the success of the campus.
    • She is usually in the building hours before sunrise making sure her learning environment is ready for her students.
    • She has been a campus leader in our efforts to create family engagement opportunities.
    • Along with the committee she leads, Ms. Taylor has been instrumental in coordinating home visits, International Food Night, and African-American heritage celebrations

Eddie Munoz – (4th Grader) Hastings Elementary nominated by Hastings Asst. Principal Rachel Hix

    • Eddie as he likes to be called is a transfer student to William Lee Hastings.
    • He came to us from Florida fleeing the hurricane.
    • Since his arrival, Eddie has been a ray of sunshine in our class, there is no one that he won’t talk to or help out.
    • He adapted not only to a new school, but to a whole set of new students.  Not once did he show any signs of resentment towards his plight, on the contrary he has shown us what a wonderful personality he has, as well as a huge heart.
    • In our classroom we work with partners and Eddie has been partnered with a student with special needs, and never once has he said he wouldn’t do it.
    • He has embraced the fact that she is special and needs assistance.
    • He is very caring and kind towards her and his classmates.
    • Eddie is always making sure that his partner is understanding and staying on task while making sure that he is also doing what he should be doing.

Brenda Web (Executive Secretary) Plaza nominated by Director of Innovation Dr. Crystal Rentz

    • Brenda is a team player. She is always willing to assist in any way she can.
    • She is proactive and detail-oriented. The reason many meetings and events hosted by Curriculum & Instruction staff run so well is often because of Brenda’s work behind the scenes.
    • And on the rare occasion when Brenda is unable to assist you, she will work with you to find the appropriate person to help.
    • She has an amazing attitude and exhibits the PAC in all situations. If you're having a difficult day or frustrated, just call or stop by to talk to Brenda and your day will be brightened!
