The library will be home to a new program "Maker Mondays". On Maker Mondays, the library will be open to any class who wishes to participate. MakerSpaces are collaborative workspaces for making, learning, exploring, and sharing. There are no lesson plans, no grades given, and as few adult instructions as possible. Students are usually free to choose the projects that interest them.
We began with a small donation from DonorsChoose, and students have been given the opportunity during library class to sample the activities. They've had fun, have enjoyed the supplies, and have been so creative!
This coming school year, in addition to these MakerSpaces, the library will be open on most Mondays to teachers who wish to utilize it. Maker Mondays will be by appointment, and teachers may reserve up to one hour at a time.
To expand our MakerSpaces, we are in need of supplies. Many are items you may be throwing away, and most are fairly inexpensive. If you are able to donate any of these supplies, please send them to the library.
I'm looking forward to seeing what your kids can create!
