Algebra 2 Course Syllabus
This course is a continuation of algebraic and geometric concepts developed in Algebra I and Geometry. Students will review solving equations, inequalities, and graphing functions. The students will continue their foundation of functions, use symbol and manipulation to simplify and solve, connect algebra and geometry, work different methods for solving system of equations, matrices, quadratic, square root, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions. Students will continue to build on this foundation as they expand their understanding through other mathematical experiences.

Algebra II students are expected to:

- Retests must be taken within a week after the test grade has been received by the student.
If a student misses an assignment due to absence, they will need to make the assignment up. The student is responsible for getting any missed assignment from the teacher. The student has until the next class block to complete the assignment for full credit. If he takes two class blocks, the highest grade he can receive is a 70. If he takes 3 class blocks, the highest grade is a 50. After that the assignment will remain a zero.
Policies and Expectations:
Students must be in class when the tardy bell rings. Usually class will begin with a warm-up/quiz. It is the student’s responsibility to get information and begin when the bell rings. Failure to work at the bell will result in loss of points and impact their grades.
Students need to bring to class every day, a respectful attitude, supplies, completed assignments, math resources, and their notes. Student’s it is your responsibility to get make-up work when absent. Missing assignments will count as zeroes. It is also your responsibility to take notes daily.
Students must abide by all Duncanville High School rules and policies. Dress code will be strictly enforced, no food, drinks, or gun are allowed in class and personal use of electronic devices are not allowed unless specified by the instructor. Violations will result in referrals and electronic devices being taken up.
Students must be in dress code and wearing ID badges prior to entering the classroom.
No passes from class will be allowed for the first 15 minutes and the last 15 minutes of class.
Students may not leave the classroom without an individual pass.
When a student enters the class room, they must go to their assigned seat and start on their warm-up assignment. At the end of class, students do not leave their seat or class until dismissed by the teacher.
