As a graduate of Duncanville High School (Class of '83), it is my honor to serve Duncanville ISD and the students of Duncanville as principal of Mary E. Smithey PACE High School.
Since the mid 1990's, PACE has been Duncanville ISD's alternative education campus of choice providing another learning environment which may better assist at-risk students to achieve their goal of high school graduation.
Admission to PACE is by application and a review of an individual's academic, disciplinary, and attendance records from Duncanville High School. Qualified applicants will be interviewed by campus administration to determine whether or not PACE is an appropriate placement.
Once accepted, PACE students are given the opportunity to complete all requirements prescribed by the Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees and the Texas Education Agency for high school graduation at an accelerated rate through digitally directed curriculum. This curriculum is internet accessible for students 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Highly qualified instructors monitor academic progress and provide individual guidance as needed.
Since 2005, it's been my pleasure to see so many PACE graduates overcome their personal obstacles and unique circumstances in order to obtain their high school diplomas. PACE graduates go on to become teachers, medical professionals, lawyers, business leaders, and soldiers.
If you believe you're a good candidate for PACE, I encourage you to complete the application located on the PACE Homepage and send it in as soon as possible.
I wish all Duncanville ISD students all my best and hope you all make continuous academic progress!
Mary E. Smithey PACE High School opened as PACE School in 1993. The alternative school was renamed in 2008 for former district teacher Mary E. Smithey. The school serves grades 10-12.

The mission of PACE High School is to guide students to become academically, socially, and emotionally prepared for self sufficiency. The individual instructional needs of students will be met in order to develop self-esteem and to inspire internal motivation necessary to become responsible, contributing members of society. PACE provides a flexible learning environment for students who must deal with the demands of employment and/or unique domestic obligations while working towards high school graduation.
