Dr. Shantuan Taylor

Dr. Shantuan Taylor is known as a distinguished scholar with a strong character, dedication to success and fine ethical principles. Taykor has a mark of distinction with remarkable skill and accomplishment. Her expert advicein engineering are regularly sought by her peers.  Dr. Taylors’s natural charm, humor, humility, and positive attitude enables her to embrace various perspectives and so she receives opinions from her peers with cooperation and open-mindedness. 

She excels where others struggle because she values, understands, and utilizes a team concept in her accomplishments.  As Co-Founder of the American Association of Adjuncts in Education, Creative Director of Brown Girl Empire, a past National Board President of Conference of Minority Public Administrators (COMPA), member of the Regional Advisory Board for National Society of Black Engineers, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Mack Performing Arts Collective. Taylor has been consistently lauded for her invaluable leadership. Equally important, she recognizes those who contribute to any success to which she is involved.

Currently, she iis teaching dual credit courses Robotics, Principles of Applied Engineering, Practicum of STEM at Duncanville High School,  and adjunct at a Mountain View College . Taylor is a co-founder of the American Association of Adjunct Education where they focus on developing faculty to become scholars in their own right via adjunct education, college professional development, and college instructor training. Formally Taylor worked as an engineer for NASA, former Director of the Cyber Infrastructure Empowerment Coalition Center for Computational Sciences in the College of Sciences and Technology at the University of Houston Downtown (UHD) where she developed research programs, and assessments of developmental intelligence, Associate Director of Academic Development at The Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M University. Coleman’s expert knowledge and inspiration  and her mastery of research methodology, and ability to handle challenging questions smoothly, with humor, in a clear, concise, and well-thought manner is a welcome and much-needed assistance in academic success. 

Dr. Taylor’s professionalism, scholarly expertise, hands-on work experiences, interpersonal and communication skills indicate her overwhelming potential as a leader in Higher Education, Engineering and Non-Profit Organizations dedicated to women, children and the arts. Her service to peers, to the community at large, and her scholarly skills has equipped her for faculty and leadership position.

She possess interpersonal, team building, research and diplomacy skills, while working cooperatively with others. Dr. Coleman has experience with the community colleges, online universities and research institutions. Dr. Coleman have a strong passion for student program development with emphasis in STEM. In her leisure time, she tutors and mentors students while encouraging them to become Science, Technology, Engineering and or Math (STEM) students.  In addition, she volunteers on programs that focus on her deep concern for the plight of people. In addition she is an avid passionate speaker to students/women groups and loves quarter horses.

 Her research interest include: Electrical Engineering – Power systems, digital design, ABET accreditation board outcomes, EEE parts Integration, Engineering Education, STEM Education and CyberInfrastructure. Dr. Taylor has presented her graduate and professional work at numerous conferences.    

In addition, Dr. Taylor has dedicated time volunteering as a mentor for youth 10–22 years of age. She created a Youth Mentor Project under the Conference of Minority of Public Administrators (COMPA) to introduce disadvantaged youth to entrepreneurship.  For Dr. Taylor, volunteering has been an important leadership role, in which she has provided valuable service to her community and honed her own skills as a planner, coach, and mentor.  Her work translated easily to guiding and bolstering the academic success of adult learners in higher education.

Taylor is also is a member and officer of several organizations to include a few are Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., National Society of Black Engineer’s Regional Advisory Board, Mack Performing Arts Collective,  and Who's Who of International Professionals.  In addition she sits on several boards.

 She is a native of Fort Worth, Texas married to Timothy and currently living in Dallas, Texas , where she still dreams about when she grows up.  She is a member of Success in Life Ministries church.
