My name is Mrs. Hamm and this is my 5th year of teaching high school science. For my first year, I taught at an alternative charter high school in Fort Worth where I taught Biology, Anatomy and Physiology as well as Forensic Science. I have been teaching Biology at Duncanville High School for the last four years and I love teaching the students at DHS! In summer of 2016 I teamed up with Miss Falcon (another biology teacher) to organize a trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands for 11 days! Several of our former students traveled with our group to learn more about biodiversity and a sustainable community as well as getting some real world experience in community service. We assisted a local village in the Andes mountains with building a new school. It was the experience of a lifetime and I look forward to sharing all of the knowledge I acquired with my future students. More information to come on if we are doing another trip next summer. Stay tuned!
We are ecstatic to have explored our love of the life sciences in such a biology-rich environment and I want to continue to inspire my students to make a difference in the world. I am also currently in graduate school going for a master's degree in special education with an additional certification in Applied Behavior Analysis. When I'm not busy thinking of ways to encourage, engage and educate my students, I enjoy reading, having family game nights, traveling and swimming.
