Ms. Yolanda N. Harris

My qualifications begin with sixteen years of experience of teaching secondary Fine/Visual Art; eight years at the middle school level (6th grade-8th grade) and seven years at the high school level (9thgrade -12thgrade). Presently, I am entering my seventeenth year of teaching high school Fine Arts and coaching athletics. I have been a highly certified Secondary Art Texas Teacher. Throughout my teaching experience I have gained and built positive relationships with district leaders, school administrators, and other key stakeholders within the community to bridge the gap between parents, students, and teachers. I obtained a Masters of Education in Teacher Leadership in May 2014. In addition, in July 2015 I will receive a Masters of Education Leadership and Administration: Principal Licensure. As a result, I am definitely a leader rather than a follower. I have always displayed a high degree of integrity, responsibility, and ambition because of my educational pursuit to excellence.

I have acquired superior word processing and administrative skills from working in corporate America. Being an exemplary editor/writer with proficient computer software skills, I participated with Dallas ISD in the development of the instructional curriculum for Art/Painting I & II. Furthermore, I have gained teacher leadership experience by instructing the Dallas ISD Alternative Certification program of spearheading the incoming fine art teachers. These mutli-task positions have enabled me to more thoroughly develop and enhance my management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Moreover, I competed in athletics at the highest of levels, including Division I collegiate and professionally. Having an extensive academic and athletic career has helped me gain outstanding headship, interpersonal and teamwork skills. The lessons that I learned as a student-athlete are nearly unexplainable; however I draw on them daily as I teach, mentor, and coach. I have come to realize how vital education is in the preparation for young people to achieve success in all endeavors set before them. I'm a proud mother of three intelligent girls; Zarielle Green (16), Ariele (6) & Ariana Warren (6).
